Forest City: Interior Malaysia’s Chinese-built ‘ghost city’ – BBC News

China’s largest property developer Country Garden unveiled Forest City – a $100bn (£78.9bn) mega-challenge – in 2016.

In Malaysia, Country Garden’s belief used to be to originate an eco-pleasant metropolis featuring a golf course, waterpark, offices, bars and restaurants. The firm said Forest City would finally be residence to merely a few million people.

Eight years on, handiest 15% of the challenge has been built and, in accordance with contemporary estimates, lawful over 1% of the total vogue is occupied.

Despite facing debts of merely about $200bn, Country Garden informed the BBC it’s “optimistic” the pudgy belief will likely be done.
